Science

Well, science is our second completed subject for the year. We finished it on Tuesday and will end up the year doing miscellaneous experiments and such. We use Apologia which I just love. This is our 3rd year and we are in Flying Creatures. It is a Christian based curriculum that believes much more in the inch wide, mile deep philosophy rather than the mile wide and an inch deep. Lots of other curriculum out there covers such a huge range of topics that the kiddos think they know everything about say, the universe, even though they've only completed a chapter. It is definitely high level and, like history, I don't get bogged down in having my kids know everything it covers. It is Charlotte Mason in approach with the notebooking and narration type questions. One of the things I am particularly excited about is that they just added a book on the Human Body. Here is a page from each of the kid's notebooks:

Dragonfly - insect attributes
Types of nests

By the way, the face paint is because they were playing Indians with some bows and arrows Gramma gave to them. :)
