For some reason, we never hit this place at the right time so it is always a bit of a disappointment. But, today seemed better than last time. Probably everybody's favorite part is feeding the fish off to the right-hand side. You just put quarters in the machine, and out comes fish food. The fish go totally crazy as you drop the food in and you can easily touch them. Inside the center is a room with fish information and a video of fish moving through a fish ladder (maybe at Rocky Reach?). Then they have the real fish room which so far has never had fish in it when we've been there. There are examples about to see the different stages of the salmon, but not quite so exciting.
Outside there were some more tanks that had juvenile fish and an area that had really nice, large salmon to see. From there you can walk a 1 mile trail and look for birds that are noted along the way. The kids really enjoy playing in the quite cold water and trying to get across. Katie even lost her flip-flop downstream so I had to chase after it...not an easy feat.
We then went over and had lunch briefly at Blackbird Island and walked quickly around Leavenworth. A particularly enjoyable part of the day was having an exchange student from Korea with us and learning about his country and culture along the way. The day was rounded out with a couple hours of our favorite card games and Catch Phrase at home. :)
